A: Yes, we offer phone estimates for fence installations. However, we the customer would need to know their exact measurements.
Q: What is the order of pricing for different fence materials?
A:The pricing order for fencing materials varies depending on the material type and quality. Generally, the most expensive materials are wrought iron and aluminum, followed by composite, vinyl, and wood chain link.
Q: How should I prepare for the first site visit?
A: Make sure to have a clear idea of what you are looking for in a fence, including the material, height, and any specific features. Additionally, be sure to have the property lines marked and/or property sheet provided for the sales representative and necessary access to the site.
Q: What is the appearance of the bottom of a fence, and can the fence accommodate a sloped terrain?
A: The bottom of a fence can either be straight or follow the contour of the ground, depending on the installation. Fences can also be sloped to accommodate hills or changes in the ground level.
Q: Where are materials and equipment stored?
A: Materials and equipment are typically stored at our warehouse or supplier facilities. They are brought to the installation site as needed and stored on site during the duration of the project.
Q: Who removes old fencing?
A: We offer removal and disposal services for old fencing for an additional fee. This can be requested during the consultation process.
Q:What time do you show up to start work?
A: Our crews typically arrive on-site in the morning, between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, depending on the specific project and location. However, exact start times may vary.
Q: How long does it take to install a fence?
A: The duration of a fence installation depends on the size of the project, the type of fencing material, and scheduling. Most fence installations can be completed within a few days to a week, but larger or more complex projects may take longer.
Q: Can changes be made to a contract?
A: Yes, changes can be made to a contract. However, any changes must be agreed upon by both parties and added to the contract in writing. Additional costs or fees may apply for contract changes.
Q: Can I cancel my contract?
A: Yes, a contract can be canceled at anytime before the start of the installation. However, special orders will be charged a restocking fee.
Q: What is the warranty on your fencing products and installation?
A: At Commence Fence we offer 3 years workmanship Warranty and product warranties range from 12 years to Limited Lifetime Warranties. Specific warranty terms will be provided for your installation during your consultation.
Q: How do I maintain my fence?
A: Proper maintenance depends on the fencing material. For example, wooden fences may need periodic staining or sealing, while vinyl and aluminum fences require minimal maintenance. Your contractor would provide you with maintenance recommendations specific to your chosen material.
Q: Do you remove and dispose of my old fence?
A: We offer removal and disposal services for your old fence for an additional fee. You can ask for this service during your consultation.
Q: Will you contact utility companies to locate underground lines before installation?
A: Yes, we will contact the appropriate utility companies to ensure that underground lines are located and marked prior to installation. This helps prevent accidental damage to utilities during the installation process.
Q: Are there any local regulations or homeowner's association (HOA) rules I should be aware of?
A: Fences are regulated by the City of Ottawa’s Fence By-law. The By-law states that no person may erect a fence taller than 1 metre in a front yard and 2.13 metres in any other yard in a residential property. There are also regulations that govern the size of gates, archways and decorative caps.
Q: Can you install a fence on uneven terrain?
A: We are able to install fences on uneven terrain you can discuss your property’s specific challenges with the sales rep during your consultation to determine the best course of action.
